Michigan Avenue was once lined with blocks of Italianate storefronts. Just east of the Dewing Building a handful survive.

Among the survivors is the former home of the Orpheum Theater. The City Directories list a movie house at this address from around 1910 to the late 1940's. The theater is long gone but the classic Italianate storefront which housed it remains.
