Having
outgrown their quarters in the House Block, in 1917 the First
National Bank erected this structure on the southeast
corner of Michigan and Burdick. The building was built by Henry
L. VanderHorst and designed by Chicago architects Weary and
Alford.
The
Italian Renaissance facade featured a terra cotta skin, and
columns with papyrus capitols. Inside is a massive lobby. A
series of expansions and renovations have drastically altered
the building.
