This
large early Italianate home was built between 1854 and 1858
for Charles Stuart. Stuart was a pioneer lawyer and U.S. Senator.
The
home has several key features of the Italianate style. Most
evident are the low pitched roof, cupula, and overhang. Yet,
the builders refrained from extensive ornament.
Stuart
lived here until the 1880's. When new the home was considered
to be in the country.
