James Kent, a local builder with the sash-and-door company of Dewing and Kent, built this home at the head of Kalamazoo Ave. in 1865.

The villa is made unique by its 'pagoda' roofline. Kent lived here until his death in 1915. His wife then sold the house and moved to Los Angeles.
