Dr.
William Johnson, a local physician and druggest, would built
this Italian villa at 211 Woodward Ave in 1864. The building
is a fine example of the Italianate style with its square bulk,
arched windows, brackets, wide overhanging roof, and cupula.
Johnson passed away in 1883 but the home remained in the family
until the 1920's. It was later occupied by architect M.J. Billingham.
