Not
everyone wished to built pure Italianate villas in the 1860's
and 1870's. An alternative was offered in the Second Empire
Style. The usual example, such as Isaiah Flagg's home on Stuart
Ave., was an Italianate home topped with a 'French Mansard"
roof.
Isaiah
Flagg was an established carpenter and lumber merchant when
he built this home in 1866. The elegant home retains its original
charm despite a modern addition to the front.
