After having made their home in the Kalamazoo House for several years, Charles C. Capen and family moved into this Queen Anne home in 1885. The home on Kalamazoo Ave is particularly noteworthy for its two level entrance porch and projecting bay.

Capen had a millinery store in town for which he made annual buying trips.
