In 1870 pioneer Allen Potter moved from the octagon he had occupied since 1855 into this stately Italianate villa. The home featured a rich collection of Italian details. Note the paired arched windows, bay window, and porch. It was a fitting home for the man who would become Kalamazoo's first mayor in 1884.
