Edwin
Carder moved out of a home on Walnut Street and built an elaborate
Italianate villa here in 1866. He would live here until 1876
when the home was purchased by Dr. Edwin Van Deusen. Van Deusen,
a great philanthropist, would remain here until his death in
1909. From that point it was purchased by F. Ford Rowe who had
the house remodeled into the colonial style seen here.
