Allen Potter would not be the only one in Kalamazoo to built an octagon. James P. Clapham, a local druggest, also built in the style. The home originally had a wrap around porch. This was removed and replaced with the Queen Anne porch seen here.

Clapham lived here briefly. The home was eventually occupied by Samual Folz, famous for his 'Big Corner' clothing store. The home has been divided into apartments.
