Ira Bixby House

Many of Kalamazoo's noteworthy buildings do not fit within the district's that I have established thus far. For now they are grouped together though they may be separated by miles.

It is not suprising that lumber dealer Ira Bixby chose to build his Italianate Villa with wood. It is said that Bixby's wife used the characteristic tower as an art studio. Ira lived here until 1906 when his wife died.
